Hybrid Technology: A Change of Scientific and Technological Paradigm

// July 23rd, 2009 // No Comments » // Science, Technology

Hybrid TechnologyHybrid technology is more than a newly formed word. We are witnessing a technological revolution, to a proliferation of new devices, and the unprecedented sight. Science, about every 100 years, offers a”Copernican turn”, a”paradigm shift”. New ways of understanding the universe around us and that result in changes in subsequent years technological progress and quality of life. Generate wealth through improved knowledge.

These major changes in thinking, generally, are preceded by signs in the form of dramatic improvements in technical capacity on what is already known. Best measuring instruments along with engineering works that express the most powerful knowledge of an era. This enhanced technical tools opens the door to new fundamental knowledge and new ways of understanding reality. Well, hybrid technologies have been incorporated into this revolution by providing a”third way”.

Definition

It is important to clarify and define the meaning correctly, in this context, the term”hybrid”. It is used to describe, in summary form, the various synergies are established between technologies from different sources. However, not to be confused with hybrid technology technologies that emerge in an interdisciplinary, fruit richness combine several disciplines in a single technological realization.

By way of definition, we could say the hybrid technology is to use two technologies together pre-existing, but complementary, with one end, and in order to benefit from its advantages and mitigate the potential drawbacks of each separately. The”third way”is open, so the combined use, and even simultaneously, two different solutions. This means that hybrid technology is also multidisciplinary, but more the result of combining complementary to the synthesis in a single system or new product independently.

Put another way, every hybrid is multidisciplinary by definition. But not everything that emerges from the cross is to be a hybrid technology.

Hybridization can occur at different levels in the construction process of technological solutions. Since integration into hybrid”chips”to, for example, vehicle propulsion systems combine two separate but coordinated.

Whether the interdisciplinary, first as the hybrid, then the different branches of technology have discovered an inexhaustible source of new ideas, new products and benefits resulting from the interaction between different technologies which, once formed part of compartments leakproof evolve independently but in parallel.
