It is a special feeling to know that one has reached the culmination of a generation and become a parent! The first time parent face the relationship with the child it is the meeting point of two generations and has great significance from the social point of view.
However while building interpersonal relationship the mother is the first person to bond with the child. Breast-feeding will bond the child to the mother and a special relationship of trust, friendship, love and learning develops from the tender age. The father will be a part of interpersonal relationship with the child at a later age, when the child reaches the cognitive milestones when he is able to recognize the faces.
It is a great gift to be cherished and a great responsibility as bringing up a child can be a happy experience in the right hands, however one needs to be insightful and more careful of spending of resources and the emotional gambit must encompass another individual in the husband and wife relationship. This is applicable for first time parents, as they will have some social engineering to do to be able to accommodate the changing equations of matrimony.
The basic things that every parent should be aware of is –
*Creating trust, which can be by providing for the needs of the child as well as remembering the need of the spouse!
*Spreading love, which can be infectious in the presence of a newborn. Just being gentle and keeping more time to spend with family may contribute a lot to nurturing fledgling relationship with the child.
*Being gentle yet firm, should help establish the social hierarchy in the family which will evolve to friendship as the child grows and keeping a warm smile a a good ear to the concerns of the child will go a long way to building trust and a happy family environment.
*Avoiding the pitfalls of pampering the child too much and imparting basic values like humility and sincerity is the responsibility of the parents and a successful parent will be happy with the success that a rightly reared child will enjoy later in life.
Parenthood is a joy to embrace and rejoice, avoiding the pitfalls and knowing the practices should lead to several years of happiness as the child grows.
Avoiding bias and proper reasoning between sibling disputes will also add to the spectrum of relationship that a family of should enjoy as it grows and matures.
